The MIPS (MICR Image Processing System) Core System can scale from the smallest
institution where all operations are performed on a single desktop PC to large institutions implementing
multiple servers with clustering and virtualization technology. One or more balancing workstations provide
access for operators to perform all of the daily MIPS functions.
TYPES OF WORK
The MIPS system parameters allow institutions
to process many different types of work:
• Paper or Electronic Inclearings/Sharedrafts
• Branch Capture of
Over the Counter items(POD or Debits only)
• Image Only Capture of Offline or Killed Items
• Remittance
Capture
• Merchant Capture
• Mobile Deposit
• Image ATM Processing
• Large scale check
reconciliation
• Back Office Processing of Teller Capture Work
• Custom Solutions
MIPS APPLICATION SERVER
This server processes all types of work that for the
current processing day. After all daily work has been archived to the MIPS Image Archive Server, the operator
can perform a New Day operation to clear the prior day's data and begin the new processing day. This server
runs a Microsoft Windows Server operating system and data is stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database. In
smaller institutions, this server can also host the CAR/LAR processing software.
MIPS IMAGE ARCHIVE SERVER
The MIPS Image Archive Server stores the Images
and Reports generated each day as a result of the daily processing. From this server Institution Employees and
Customers may access data through a number of options. This is a Microsoft Windows Server storing data in a
Microsoft SQL database. Refer to the MIPS Image Archive Server page for more information.
MIPS CAR / LAR SERVER
This server hosts the character recognition software
for reading printed or hand-written amounts on checks that are imported into the system. In addition to reading
amounts, the server can be configured to read account, serial, or trancode numbers on incoming documents.
Depending on the quality of the work coming into the system, institutions have achieved as high as 90% read
rate. That's 95+% fewer items that your operators will have to key, saving time and money.
REJECT REENTRY WORKSTATIONS
The Reject Reentry & Balancing workstations
can be a separate dedicated machine, or combined with an existing user workstation. From these workstations,
operators manage all functions of the daily work flow, including:
• New Day processing
• Importing
Work
• Correcting and Balancing
• Report Totals
• Create Outgoing Cash Letters
• Process Host
interface files for Posting / Returns
• Build Backup files and Update Permanent
